A Dry Process, Start to Finish

No water enters the material, so there is no risk of swelling, cracking, or mold in aged construction.

Landmark Compliant by Default

Every historic preservation project meets the standards required by preservation commissions, historic registers, and religious oversight bodies.

One Process, For Every Part of a Historic Restoration Project

From facades to fine detail work, the same careful process adapts to the surface in front of us.

What We Restore

  • Church and Cathedral Interiors and Facades: Clean soot, smoke, and age from sacred surfaces without touching their character.
  • Historic Stone and Masonry Walls: Lift decades of grime and pollution while protecting the stone beneath.
  • Ornate Carvings and Decorative Details: Reach fine detail work without rounding edges or wearing down definition.
  • Stained Glass Surrounds and Window Frames: Clean surrounding stone and metal without risk to the glass itself.
  • Structural Beams and Iron Fixtures: Remove rust and buildup from structural elements without weakening them.
  • Vaulted Ceilings and Arched Passageways: Access high, hard-to-reach surfaces without scaffolding damage or dust.
  • Outdoor Monuments and Bronze Statuary: Restore bronze and stone monuments without harming the original patina.

Not Every Restoration Company is Equipped for Historic Restoration Work

With direct landmark commission experience, we coordinate directly with the NYC Landmarks Preservation Commission, State Historic Preservation Offices, and National Register requirements.

A controlled test pass on every job: pressure and technique are matched to the specific stone, plaster, bronze, or wood in front of us before full cleaning begins.

Respect for the material’s age: our goal is never to make an old building look new. We remove damage while keeping the texture and character that make it historic.

Full documentation on request. Every historic preservation project includes documentation that preservation architects and oversight bodies can reference.

Featured Project, Hispanic Society Museum and Library

Restoring El Cid at Audubon Terrace

The Hispanic Society Museum and Library is home to Anna Hyatt Huntington’s monumental bronze equestrian statue of El Cid Campeador, surrounded by four seated bronze warriors. Decades of oxidation and city grime had dulled the bronze surface across the entire ensemble.

Process highlights:
– Dry ice blasting of the main equestrian statue and all four flanking warrior figures.
– No abrasion to the original bronze patina or cast detail.
– No water or chemicals introduced near the surrounding limestone terrace.

The result: the statue and its four guardians returned to their original tone, with the bronze cleaned and every detail of the cast work left untouched.

Featured Project, St. Sava Church, Trinity Chapel Complex

The Trinity Chapel Complex, now the Serbian Orthodox Cathedral of St. Sava, has been a designated NYC landmark since 1968. NYCryoTech cleaned soot- and smoke-damaged interior stone walls without touching the carvings or decorative details beneath.
